Recipe for Butterscotch Fondue

Posted in Fondue Recipes on 06.01.09

Here is a sweet new entry from the fondue recipes website:

List of ingredients:

1/4 cup of butter.
3/4 cup of Demerara sugar.
4 tablespoons of golden syrup.
14 ounces of evaporated milk.
4 tablespoons of chopped unsalted peanuts.
6 teaspoons of cornstarch.
2 tablespoons of water.
Slices of apple, pear, banana and popcorn, to serve.

Directions:

In a suitably sized saucepan, gently heat the butter, sugar and golden syrup, stirring occasionally, until the mixture starts to bubble. Allow to boil for 1 minute.

Stir in the evaporated milk and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce is hot and bubbling; then add the chopped peanuts.

In a bowl, blend the cornstarch smoothly with 2 tablespoons of water.

Add the cornstarch mixture to the sauce in pan and heat until thickened, stirring.

Pour into a fondue pot and place over a burner to keep warm.

Serve with pieces of apple, pear, banana and popcorn.
